Fabulous Study Days for Those Planning to Become Midwives

We get lots of enquiries from potential midwives asking for work experience with us.
We cannot offer this to all the people who enquire so we have decided to hold very exciting, interesting and informative one- day workshops where you will get masses of information, inspiration, ideas and advice. In addition you will meet like-minded people, as well as two enthusisatic Independent Midwives and two lovely student midwives who will share their knowledge and ideas with you.

Our workshop on Sat 18th April is now full but due to high demand for places we are delighted to be offering another "Becoming a Midwife" Workshop on Sat 28th April, 2012, places are still available for the 28th April 2012.

9.45	-	10.00	Arrive and get cup of tea/coffee
10.0	-	10.30	Introductions, getting to know each other
10.30	-	11.30	Life as a Midwife (in its many forms!) with Chrissy and Caroline
11.00	-	11.45	Short clip leading to discussion about the current state of midwifery
11.45	-	12.30	What women (and partners) want from a midwife
12.30	-	1.30	Bring and Share Lunch (please bring whatever you like)
1.30	-	2.00	Ideas about what the University wants (from you!)
2.00	-	3.30	Life as a Student Midwife (the realities and practicalities, look at Coursework, ask questions) with lovely Abi and Becky, 2nd year St MW’s
3.30	-	3.55	Inspiring DVD about birth and discussion
3.55	-	4.00	Close. Complete evaluation forms. Receive Certificate of Attendance

A suggested reading list will be provided, plus details of midwifery journals and addresses of useful websites and midwifery-related organisations.
